Building safety team capability in facilitating risk assessments for a tier-1 iron ore miner

A large iron ore business sought to build the capability and confidence of its internal health and safety team to lead effective risk assessments at their operational mine sites.

Bluestone HSE designed and delivered a bespoke risk management workshop tailored to the specific risk processes for their business and the realities of large-scale mining operations. The workshop included development of relevant examples, best practices (what good looks like), a workbook and highly interactive activities to maintain engagement and operational relevance.

The program focused on equipping participants to confidently facilitate risk assessments with operational leaders and frontline workers, strengthening the quality of risk discussions and enabling a consistent, field-based approach to identifying and managing risks.

An additional half day ‘train the trainer’ coaching session was held to further develop a core group of attendees on delivery of the risk assessment facilitation training to new members of the health and safety team.
