Trust - the importance of building trust as a leader

In my post last week, I mentioned the importance of building trust as a leader. I referenced Stephen Covey's quote "The first job of a leader … is to inspire trust" and then discussed ten things that can help you build trust with your team.

Today's topic: When does a supervisor, superintendent or manager (or anyone else) become a leader? I'm sure there will be lots of differing opinions on this.

For me, it’s the moment a person no longer relies on the authority of their title to get things done, but rather on the trust and respect of their team.  This is a significant shift. This transition is when someone truly earns the title of "leader".
